As the founder and president of Plotkin Financial Advisors, Shim Plotkin leads a devoted team of specialists and service professionals. Holding engineering degrees in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in industrial management, he began his career in the financial industry in 1974 when he joined Citibank in its Wall Street operations.
With a desire to assist families with their long-term financial goals, Shim joined a registered investment advisory firm, Carroll, Frank & Plotkin, LLC, in Baltimore in 1996. Becoming a Certified Financial Planner® in 1999, Shim proceeded to build a successful financial services business. Shim created his own Registered Investment Advisory firm, Plotkin Financial Advisors, LLC, in Chevy Chase, Maryland in 2003.
Shim is a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, the Financial Planning Association and the Alternative and Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA), for which he is a past member of the Board of Directors. Shim conducts seminars upon request in the field of alternative investments for other advisors.
He and his team have also produced groundbreaking programs that allow foreign investors access to the U.S. Alternative Investment market.
Shim is an avid hiker and golfer. These hobbies provide him with a very active personal life and a chance to travel extensively.
